“From New Mexico to Palestine: The Global Struggle for Human Rights and Equality”

The UNM Coali­tion for Peace and Jus­tice in the Mid­dle East is host­ing a lec­ture by Palestinian-American, Ali Abunimah, Sun­day, Nov. 7 from 7–9 p.m., in the Stu­dent Union Build­ing, Ball­room B.

Abunimah is a jour­nal­ist and co-founder of the “Elec­tronic Intifada,” a not-for-profit, inde­pen­dent online pub­li­ca­tion about the Israeli-Palestinian con­flict. He is also the author of “One Coun­try: A Bold Pro­posal to End the Israeli-Palestinian Con­flict,” a book which pro­poses to revive the idea of one state shared by two peoples.

Abunimah is a grad­u­ate of Prince­ton Uni­ver­sity and the Uni­ver­sity of Chicago and is a fre­quent speaker and com­men­ta­tor on the Mid­dle East, con­tribut­ing reg­u­larly to the Chicago Tri­bune and the Los Ange­les Times, among other pub­li­ca­tions. He has also served as vice pres­i­dent on the Board of Direc­tors of the Arab Amer­i­can Action Net­work. He is a fel­low at the Pales­tine Center.
