UNM Alumni Association Launches Homecoming Community Service Project

With the del­uge of fires and floods over the hot sum­mer months, many New Mex­i­can fam­i­lies were dis­placed and still need assis­tance. This year, as part of its Home­com­ing activ­i­ties, the UNM Alumni Association’s Com­mu­nity Ser­vice Project will gather much-needed items for the Amer­i­can Red Cross in an effort called, “Fill A U-Haul for Fire Vic­tims.” The UNM Alumni Asso­ci­a­tion will set up dona­tion loca­tions on three UNM cam­puses over the course of Home­com­ing week. Every­one who donates an item will receive a spe­cial UNM alumni gift.

The Alumni Asso­ci­a­tion is ask­ing the UNM com­mu­nity, includ­ing alumni, fac­ulty, staff and stu­dents, to donate paper goods includ­ing: toi­let paper, tis­sue, paper tow­els, canned foods, non-perishable foods and toi­letries such as sham­poo, con­di­tioner, soap, lotion and tooth­paste on any of the fol­low­ing days at these locations:

Tues­day, Sept. 20 – UNM Children’s Cam­pus Park­ing Lot
Times: 7:30 – 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., and 4–6 p.m.

Wednes­day, Sept, 21 – UNM Main Cam­pus (near Duck Pond Round­about)
Time: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Thurs­day, Sept. 22 – UNM Main Cam­pus (on Cor­nell Mall, near stat­ues by the SUB)
Time: 8 – 11 a.m.

Fri­day, Sept. 23 – South Lot on South Cam­pus (near the Shut­tle Sta­tion)
Time: 8 – 11 a.m.

Sat­ur­day, Sept. 24 – South Cam­pus: The Pit (east side)
Time: 1:30 – 4 p.m.
