The opening reception will take place in George Pearl Hall on Friday, Nov. 18 from 4 to 6 p.m. Dr. Wolfe will speak at 4 p.m. about the exhibition, fractals and never-ending patterns in general in the Auditorium (east end of building on first floor). A reception will be held at the Fine Arts & Design Library, 4th floor, after the presentation. All are invited.
The exhibit runs through March 9, 2012.
Dr. Jonathan Wolfe, known as the Fractal Guy, has a doctorate in visual neuroscience from the University of Pennsylvania. He is the Executive Director of the Fractal Foundation, an organization that uses fractals to inspire interest in math, science and art. He produces and narrates First Friday Fractals at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science. Dr. Wolfe is also the lead designer, artist and pilot of the Skydyes fractal-inspired hot air balloons.
