UNM Fine Arts and Design Library Presents New Student Exhibit

The UNM Fine Arts and Design Library is host­ing a new exhibit, “Never-Ending Pat­terns.” The show, juried by Dr. Jonathan Wolfe, fea­tures the work of UNM stu­dents Ren Adams, Jason Cof­fey, Samuel Flo­res, Ryan Henel, Joshua Hens­ley, Ser­gio Jimenez, Lowry Naka­mura, Jen­nifer Ober and Jory Van­der Galien.

The open­ing recep­tion will take place in George Pearl Hall on Fri­day, Nov. 18 from 4 to 6 p.m. Dr. Wolfe will speak at 4 p.m. about the exhi­bi­tion, frac­tals and never-ending pat­terns in gen­eral in the Audi­to­rium (east end of build­ing on first floor). A recep­tion will be held at the Fine Arts & Design Library, 4th floor, after the pre­sen­ta­tion. All are invited.

The exhibit runs through March 9, 2012.

Dr. Jonathan Wolfe, known as the Frac­tal Guy, has a doc­tor­ate in visual neu­ro­science from the Uni­ver­sity of Penn­syl­va­nia. He is the Exec­u­tive Direc­tor of the Frac­tal Foun­da­tion, an orga­ni­za­tion that uses frac­tals to inspire inter­est in math, sci­ence and art. He pro­duces and nar­rates First Fri­day Frac­tals at the New Mex­ico Museum of Nat­ural His­tory and Sci­ence. Dr. Wolfe is also the lead designer, artist and pilot of the Sky­dyes fractal-inspired hot air balloons.
