Celebrate Mardi Gras at the SUB Tuesday, Feb. 21

The University of New Mexico Student Union Building is throwing a Mardi Gras Party Tuesday, Feb. 21 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the atrium.

Slip on a strand of colorful Mardi Gras beads and get into the spirit by decorating a carnival themed mask. Or just stop by to indulge in King’s Cake, Virgin Hurricanes and a round or two of root beer pong, all complimentary of the SUB.

Auri Vigil, SUB marketing assistant and event coordinator said, “With the great support we receive from our local community, we’re also going to be raffling off jumbo beads, and donations from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Jimmy John’s, Saggios, La Montanita Coop Food Market, Landry’s Seafood, Dos Hermanos and Mid-Week Movies.

Mardi Gras, French for Fat Tuesday, is traditionally celebrated the day before Ash Wednesday as a last fling prior to the 40 days of Lent that precede Easter. The official Mardi Gras colors are purple, green and gold.
