UNM’s American Indian Business Association to Honor Keres Consulting with “American Indian Entrepreneurial Leadership Award”

Native American-owned Keres Con­sult­ing, Inc. will be rec­og­nized Fri­day, May 4 at the 16th Annual Amer­i­can Indian Busi­ness Association(AIBA) Honor Ban­quet with the 2012 Amer­i­can Indian Entre­pre­neur­ial Lead­er­ship Award. The award is given annu­ally to an indi­vid­ual firm for its impact on the com­mu­nity and AIBA students.

Keres is a Native American-owned gen­eral man­age­ment con­sult­ing firm with spe­cial­ized exper­tise in asset man­age­ment and sus­tain­abil­ity, engi­neer­ing and envi­ron­men­tal ser­vices, and com­mu­ni­ca­tion and train­ing. AIBA is a ser­vice orga­ni­za­tion of the Uni­ver­sity of New Mex­ico Robert O. Ander­son School of Man­age­ment ded­i­cated to sup­port­ing and encour­ag­ing Amer­i­can Indian peo­ple in their aca­d­e­mic, per­sonal, and pro­fes­sional pur­suits. AIBA’s pri­mary goal is to increase the grad­u­a­tion rate of Amer­i­can Indi­ans in their aca­d­e­mic endeav­ors and to serve as a role model by pro­mot­ing the val­ues of a for­mal education.

While it rec­og­nizes Keres’ efforts in mak­ing a pos­i­tive change to the Native Amer­i­can busi­ness com­mu­nity and its emerg­ing young lead­ers, thi­saward really sym­bol­izes the real­iza­tion of a goal I set out to com­plete when I started the com­pany,” said Tim­o­thy Chavez, Keres’ pres­i­dent and CEO.

Keres Con­sult­ing, Inc. is a gen­eral man­age­ment con­sult­ing firm with spe­cial­ized exper­tise in asset man­age­ment and sus­tain­abil­ity, energy and the envi­ron­ment, and com­mu­ni­ca­tion and train­ing. Estab­lished in 2001, the com­pany is a Native American-owned, 8(a) Small Dis­ad­van­taged Busi­ness. In early 2010, Keres estab­lished an intern­ship pro­gram to pro­vide men­tor­ship oppor­tu­ni­ties in gov­ern­ment contracting.

The com­pany part­nered with AIBA at that time to iden­tify and recruit intern can­di­dates – a rela­tion­ship that has fos­tered the place­ment of extra­or­di­nary AIBA stu­dents in the Keres intern­ship program.

In addi­tion, Keres designed a cor­po­rate well­ness and ser­vice cam­paign cen­tered on its cor­po­rate value to honor those of Native Amer­i­can her­itage and oth­ers in need. Projects includ­ing par­tic­i­pa­tion in the Tour de Acoma – a cycling event ben­e­fit­ing the Pueblo of Acoma’s Haak’u Museum and Cul­ture Cen­ter – Pueblo of Santa Clara flood mit­i­ga­tion vol­un­teer project, and Albu­querque Indian Cen­ter gift drive demon­strate the company’s com­mit­ment to the Native Amer­i­can community.
