Anderson School Announces New Board Members

The Ander­son School of Man­age­ment Foun­da­tion Board of Direc­tors recently announced the addi­tion of five new mem­bers. The new board mem­bers are: Michael A. Emer­son, New Mex­ico Com­mu­nity Cap­i­tal; Den­nis Gar­cia, US Bank; Terri Giron-Gordon, Gen­Quest, Inc.; Stu­art Schoen­mann, Nor­west Equity Part­ners; and Vickie R. Wilcox, Wilcox Law Firm, P.C. The Ander­son School Foun­da­tion Board serves in an advi­sory capac­ity to the Dean of the Ander­son School. Ander­son Dean Doug Brown says board mem­bers are impor­tant to the school.

Ander­son Foun­da­tion Board mem­bers pro­vide an essen­tial link to the com­mu­nity,” says Brown. “They drum up sup­port, vol­un­teer ideas and resources, and give us invalu­able com­mu­nity feedback.”

The Ander­son Foun­da­tion board also spon­sors the annual Hall of Fame Awards Ban­quet, and gen­er­ates resources for Anderson’s nation­ally rec­og­nized pro­grams in busi­ness and man­age­ment education.

The new slate of direc­tors was effec­tive July 1, 2012 with each mem­ber serv­ing a three-year term.

ABOUT THE NEW BOARD MEMBERS
Michael Emer­son is the vice pres­i­dent of Strate­gic Busi­ness Ser­vices at New Mex­ico Com­mu­nity Cap­i­tal. In his role, he devel­ops and imple­ments a wide range of busi­ness advi­sory ser­vices for NMCC clients and invest­ment port­fo­lio com­pa­nies. Pre­vi­ously, Emer­son was a part-owner and senior man­ager of ARES Cor­po­ra­tion, a national engi­neer­ing con­sult­ing firm. He serves on the boards of the NM Renew­able Energy Trans­mis­sion Author­ity and the Kirt­land Part­ner­ship Com­mit­tee. At the Uni­ver­sity of New Mex­ico, he is an advi­sory group mem­ber for the Cec­chi Ven­ture­Lab, Tamarind Insti­tute, and the Mechan­i­cal Engi­neer­ing Depart­ment and is a for­mer Trustee of the UNM Foun­da­tion. Emer­son received his BS in Mechan­i­cal Engi­neer­ing from UNM and his MS in Nuclear Engi­neer­ing from the Uni­ver­sity of Washington.

Den­nis L. Gar­cia is a senior vice pres­i­dent at US Bank (for­merly First Com­mu­nity Bank) respon­si­ble for man­ag­ing the Trea­sury Man­age­ment sales and sup­port func­tions for the insti­tu­tion. Den­nis has more than 32 years of expe­ri­ence in man­age­ment. He focuses on cus­tomer ser­vice in a busi­ness to busi­ness set­ting specif­i­cally in the bank­ing, logis­tics ser­vices, and telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions indus­tries. Gar­cia has a BBA in Finance and a MBA in Finance from the Ander­son School of Man­age­ment and was a lec­turer at the school for the Fall 2011 semester.

Terri Giron-Gordon is the Pres­i­dent and owner of Gen­Quest with more than 25 years of expe­ri­ence as a cor­po­rate trainer, facil­i­ta­tor, and medi­a­tor. Gen­Quest helps orga­ni­za­tions per­form at opti­mal lev­els by pro­vid­ing the peo­ple, ser­vices, tools, and resources they need to cre­ate a work.Happy® envi­ron­ment, a set­ting that helps employ­ees main­tain a work/life bal­ance in a pos­i­tive work­ing envi­ron­ment. Gen­Quest pro­vides pro­fes­sional ser­vices to gov­ern­ment agen­cies, fed­eral con­trac­tors, the edu­ca­tion sec­tor, and pri­vate busi­nesses. Ms. Giron-Gordon is a mem­ber of the board for the Samar­i­tan Coun­sel­ing Cen­ter, and serves on the Exec­u­tive Lead­er­ship Team for the Amer­i­can Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women” cam­paign. She was also hon­ored this year by induc­tion to the Ander­son School Hall of Fame. Terri has a BBA from the Ander­son School and a Mas­ter of Arts in Pub­lic Admin­is­tra­tion from UNM.

Stu­art Schoen­mann is the Oper­at­ing Part­ner at Nor­west Equity Part­ners. He spe­cial­izes in the acqui­si­tion and man­age­ment of high tech com­pa­nies. Pre­vi­ously, Schoen­mann was the CEO of CVI Melles Griot for eight years. Dur­ing that time, he grew the inter­na­tional pho­ton­ics com­pany seven fold through strate­gic acqui­si­tions and organic growth. Schoen­mann grad­u­ated from the Uni­ver­sity of Cal­i­for­nia, San Diego with degrees in physics, math­e­mat­ics, and eco­nom­ics and earned his MBA from the Uni­ver­sity of South­ern Cal­i­for­nia. Schoen­mann also serves on the board of the New Mex­ico Museum of Nat­ural His­tory Foundation.

Vickie R. Wilcox of the Wilcox Law Firm, P.C., is a Board Cer­ti­fied spe­cial­ist in Estate Plan­ning, Trust, and Pro­bate Law. She grad­u­ated from Dem­ing High School in south­ern New Mex­ico and earned her Bach­e­lor of Arts in polit­i­cal sci­ence from George Wash­ing­ton Uni­ver­sity in Wash­ing­ton D.C. Wilcox attended the Uni­ver­sity of New Mex­ico School of Law and received her Mas­ters of Law in Tax­a­tion from New York Uni­ver­sity. Wilcox serves on the Board of Trustees for the Albu­querque Com­mu­nity Foun­da­tion, and is the chair of the Pro­fes­sional Advi­sor Group. She is also on the Board of the New Mex­ico Chap­ters of the Soci­ety of Finan­cial Ser­vice Pro­fes­sion­als and the Finan­cial Plan­ning Asso­ci­a­tion, and a Board Mem­ber of the State Bar of New Mex­ico Real Prop­erty, Pro­bate, and Trust Section.
