Tamarind Hosts Jazz Artist Saudade

The Tamarind Insti­tute at the Uni­ver­sity of New Mex­ico hosts Brazil­ian jazz artist Saudade at a clos­ing recep­tion for the “Afro: Black Iden­tity In Brazil and Amer­ica” exhibit on Fri­day, Aug. 24 from 5:30 — 7 p.m. The insti­tute is located at 2500 Cen­tral Ave., S.E.

Guests will get a chance to meet artists Sid­ney Ama­ral and Toyin Odu­tola as well as see the lith­o­graphs pro­duced dur­ing the project, which began in June. Live inter­views done dur­ing ear­lier res­i­den­cies with Ali­son Saar, Paulino Rosana, Willie Cole and Tiago Gual­berto will also be shown.
