Office of Student Academic Success Offers Coaching Opportunity

The Office of Stu­dent Aca­d­e­mic Suc­cess at the Uni­ver­sity of New Mex­ico is offer­ing aca­d­e­mic coach­ing work­shops to those inter­ested in help­ing with UNM’s reten­tion efforts. Coaches assist stu­dents through a process of self-discovery to expe­ri­ence suc­cess as they take action to move for­ward in their aca­d­e­mic progress.

To become a coach, inter­ested appli­cants must attend the Level I “Intro to Aca­d­e­mic Coach­ing Skill” train­ing, sched­uled for Thurs­day, Oct. 25 from 8:30 a.m. — 4:30 p.m. in the Lobo­Lab train­ing cen­ter in the Stu­dent Union Build­ing. In addi­tion, appli­cants must com­plete an online form located at Coach­ing Appli­ca­tion

Upon com­ple­tion of Level I train­ing, those inter­ested in fur­ther build­ing their skills are encour­aged, but not required, to take the Level II course “Enhanc­ing the Coach­ing Rela­tion­ship: Coach­ing Dif­fer­ent Per­son­al­i­ties & Pop­u­la­tions for Pos­i­tive Outcomes,” on Fri­day, Oct. 26 from 8:30 a.m. — 3 p.m. in the Lobo­Lab train­ing center.
