Staff Council Environs Committee Looks for “Ugly Duckling” Landscapes

The UNM Staff Council Environs Committee is asking the campus community to submit suggestions for “ugly duckling” landscapes around UNM that need some attention. Take a photo of your “ugly duckling” suggestion and email it to recycle@unm.edu. The deadline is Nov. 28, 2012.

Committee members will choose a landscape from the suggestions and will raise money for new plants and landscaping materials. The committee currently has collection jars at the UNM main campus book store, the north campus bookstore and at the 3rd floor reception desk in the Family and Community Medicine building on North Campus.

As soon as the committee has enough money to make improvements on the space, the money will be transferred to the UNM Physical Plant Dept. and they will begin to transform the “Ugly Duckling” space.

Sometimes a space just needs a little extra attention,” says Staff Council Environs Committee co-chair Linda McCormick.  “This is an easy way to make part of our campus a little more beautiful.”
