UNM Hosts Lecture on Cuban Economy

The Uni­ver­sity of New Mex­ico Latin Amer­i­can & Iber­ian Insti­tute hosts “The Impact of the Eco­nomic and Social Pol­icy Guide­lines on the National Pro­duc­tion of Food in Cuba” with speaker Armando Nova on Mon­day, Oct. 15 at noon.

The pre­sen­ta­tion looks at the process of eco­nomic trans­for­ma­tion in Cuba, called the “updat­ing of the eco­nomic model.” The trans­for­ma­tion includes all sec­tors with impli­ca­tions for the eco­nomic, social and polit­i­cal aspects of the country.

Nova is a senior researcher and pro­fes­sor at the Cen­ter for the Study of the Cuban Econ­omy at the Uni­ver­sity of Havana where he has earned both his bach­e­lor and doc­tor­ate in economics.

The pre­sen­ta­tion will be in Span­ish with Eng­lish inter­pre­ta­tion. The event is free and open to the pub­lic. Light refresh­ments will be provided.
