Douglas M. Brown, dean, University of New Mexico Anderson School of Management, has been appointed chair of the UNM School of Law national dean search committee. UNM Provost Chaouki T. Abdallah appointed Brown following the mid-October announcement that Barbara Bergman, former law school associate dean for Academic Affairs, would serve as interim dean. Bergman will serve in that capacity through the 2012–13 academic year.
Abdallah will convene the search committee Thursday, Dec. 6, to share his expectations for the committee and the potential candidates. The position will be posted for applications mid-December and the search will continue through the 2012–13 academic year. Best consideration date for the UNM law school deanship will fall between mid-to-late January, with the committee performing its work through March of 2013. The anticipated start date for the new UNM School of Law dean is July 1, 2013.
