UNM Day at the State Capitol a Success

Not even snow­fall in Santa Fe could cool down Lobo spirit dur­ing UNM Day ay the State Capi­tol. The Uni­ver­sity takes this oppor­tu­nity to show­case its peo­ple and pro­grams to the Round­house crowd. Exhibits lined the Halls of His­tory on either side of the Rotunda, while scores of UNM folks took the oppor­tu­nity to visit with their leg­is­la­tors and watch state gov­ern­ment in action.

Pres­i­dent Frank was intro­duced in both houses along with Grad­u­ate Dean Julie Coon­rod, Archi­tec­ture Dean Geral­dine Forbes Isais, Ath­let­ics VP Paul Krebs, Dr. Jess Ben­son from the NM Poi­son Con­trol and Drug Infor­ma­tion Cen­ter, and stu­dents Dal­las Bollema and Yeshema­bet Turner. My apolo­gies if I’ve left any­one out.

It’s a hec­tic day but one filled with fun and excite­ment. Thanks to every­one who made it pos­si­ble and to every­one who took the time to jour­ney to Santa Fe on behalf of UNM. A spe­cial shout-out to the UNM Alumni Asso­ci­a­tion who hosted law­mak­ers last night at their annual Appre­ci­a­tion recep­tion. Our appre­ci­a­tion goes to our alums who work hard for UNM dur­ing the ses­sion and year round.

Sen­ate Finance is sched­uled to hear from higher ed this after­noon. We hope to have a report later.
