Student Employee of the Year Nominations Due Feb. 1

UNM again joins col­leges and uni­ver­si­ties across the coun­try to rec­og­nize the stu­dent work­force dur­ing National Stu­dent Employ­ment Week, April 7 — 13. Accord­ing to the National Stu­dent Employ­ment Asso­ci­a­tion, cam­pus jobs pro­vide career-enhancing oppor­tu­ni­ties to bet­ter pre­pare stu­dents for the world of work upon graduation.

Stu­dents employed through the Stu­dent Employ­ment Office are eli­gi­ble to be nom­i­nated for the annual Stu­dent Employee of the Year award and to par­tic­i­pate in the National Stu­dent Employ­ment Week fes­tiv­i­ties spon­sored by UNM’s Grad­u­a­tion Task Force Stu­dent Engage­ment Committee.

Stu­dents will be judged on qual­ity of work, ini­tia­tive, reli­a­bil­ity, and pro­fes­sion­al­ism, unique­ness of con­tri­bu­tion, com­mu­nity and cam­pus ser­vice. Nom­i­na­tions are due for the UNM Stu­dent Employee of the Year award by Fri­day, Feb. 1 at 5 p.m. Sub­mit nom­i­na­tions by email to ldelgado@unm.edu.

Employ­ers are encour­aged to rec­og­nize and cel­e­brate the con­tri­bu­tions of UNM’s stu­dent work­force in a vari­ety of ways includ­ing the week’s festivities.

On Tues­day, April 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the Grad­u­a­tion Task Force will again spon­sor the Stu­dent Employee Week Car­ni­val in the SUB Atrium. Com­mit­tee mem­bers will pro­vide refresh­ments and enter­tain­ment for stu­dent employ­ees and their employers.

On Thurs­day, April 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Career Ser­vices will host the Stu­dent Sum­mer Job and Intern­ship Fair in the Stu­dent Union Ball­room. UNM depart­ments can reg­is­ter for a free booth. Con­tact Keith Hitz for more infor­ma­tion at (505) 277‑0953 or khitz@unm.edu.

On Fri­day, April 12, at noon in the SUB Atrium, stu­dents nom­i­nated for UNM’s Stu­dent Employee of the Year Award will be rec­og­nized and the win­ners announced.
