Etulain Publishes his 50th Book

UNM Pro­fes­sor Emer­i­tus of His­tory Richard W. Etu­lain recently pub­lished his 50th book, “Lin­coln and Ore­gon Coun­try Pol­i­tics in the Civil War Era,” (Ore­gon State Uni­ver­sity Press) in which he exam­ines Lincoln’s strong per­sonal and polit­i­cal con­nec­tions with the Pacific North­west before and dur­ing the Civil War years.

Etu­lain taught at UNM from 1979 to 2001, serv­ing as edi­tor of the New Mex­ico His­tor­i­cal Review and later as direc­tor of the Cen­ter for the Amer­i­can West (now Cen­ter for the South­west) at UNM. He is past-president of both the West­ern Lit­er­a­ture and West­ern His­tory associations.
