Open Forums Scheduled for Finalists for Director of Center for Effective Teaching at UNM

Tom Angelo Biog­ra­phy­Fol­low­ing a national search, the Office of the Provost has named the final­ists for the direc­tor posi­tion of the Cen­ter for Effec­tive Teach­ing at UNM. They include: Thomas Angelo, Aeron Haynie and William Robert­son. Open forums for the final­ists will be held over the course of the next three weeks said Asso­ciate Provost for Cur­ricu­lum Greg Heile­man, who led the search com­mit­tee com­prised of fac­ulty, staff and administrators.

Each can­di­date will present a vision for pro­mot­ing effec­tive teach­ing and learn­ing at the Uni­ver­sity of New Mex­ico. All pre­sen­ta­tions will be held in the Col­lege of Edu­ca­tion, room 130, from 2 — 3 p.m.

The direc­tor will lead a newly-formed Cen­ter for Effec­tive Teach­ing at UNM. The mis­sion of the cen­ter is to develop, sup­port, and pro­mote active and engaged learn­ing prac­tices at UNM that improve learn­ing out­comes, reten­tion and per­sis­tence in a man­ner con­sis­tent with uni­ver­sity goals. The Cen­ter is designed to sup­port excel­lence in teach­ing through all forms of instruc­tion and men­tor­ing, includ­ing face-to-face, on-line, hybrid and other emerg­ing modalities.
