UNM Facilities Management (FM) is notifying the UNM campus and surrounding communities that New Mexico Gas Company will be performing gas line repair and maintenance along Frontier Avenue beginning Oct. 4.

Here’s what you need to know:

Project Area
The project is taking place on Frontier Avenue west of Vassar Drive. Equipment will be staged in the road on the west end of the project area (see map).

Time and Dates
The work is planned to begin on Oct. 4 and last for three weeks. Note: this project is weather dependent and timeframes may change should adverse weather conditions occur.

Traffic Impacts

  • Frontier Avenue is expected to remain open to vehicle traffic throughout the project, however drivers should expect intermittent lane closures, particularly around the equipment staging area or as deemed necessary for safety by the onsite crews.
  • Flaggers will be onsite to ensure safe traffic flows.
  • Access to parking lots and reserved spaces along Frontier will not be impacted.

Pedestrian Impacts
Sidewalks on the south side of Frontier will be closed approaching the equipment staging area or as deemed necessary for safety by the onsite crews. Sidewalks on the north side of Frontier will remain open. Pedestrians should use caution if walking in the area.

Facility Impacts
Area service outages are not planned as part of this project, though individual facilities may require temporary interruptions of service. These facilities will be contacted directly in advance of any planned outages.

Noise
Some general equipment noise from boring machines can be expected at times, but it should not be excessive or sustained.

DUB-L-EE, LLC is the contractor for the project. The project lead for New Mexico Gas Company is Tim Duncan, who can be reached at Timothy.Duncan@nmgco.com or (505) 697-3529.
