UNM Parking & Transportation Services (UNM PATS) is closing the South Lot and K Lot permit holders for the summer. The closure is effective Saturday, May 13 through Sunday, Aug. 20. Here’s what you need to know: 

Lot Closures/Shuttle Services 

  • South Lot and K (aka Elks) Lot are closed Saturday, May 13–Sunday, Aug. 20
  • Valid South Lot (“22SOU”) and K Lot (“22KST”) permits will be honored in Q Lot during this time. The summer G/Q shuttle service will operate Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m.–7 p.m. throughout the summer. (G/Q North Campus and G/Q Duck Pond).
  • As a reminder, the “3:45 p.m. Rule also applies to your South and K permits. This means that after 3:45 p.m. on weekdays and all-day on weekends, your parking permit will be valid for use in regular parking spaces in most UNM commuter and proximity parking zones. Please note that the 3:45 p.m. Rule does not apply to certain restricted parking spaces, resident zones, parking structures or when using a temporary permit.   • Shuttle service to South Lot and K Lot will resume when the lots reopen for permit parking at 6:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21, the first day of the 2023-2024 Academic Year (AY2023-2024). Please note that to park in the K and South Lots during the next academic year, you will need to purchase and display a valid AY2023-2024 parking permit. The permit sale dates are as follows: 
    • Student Resident Permits (R*, S* and INS*): Thursday, July 27 at 7:30 a.m. 
    • Proximity Permits (G*, J, L*, P, RIO, T, and Yale): Tuesday, Aug. 1 at 7:30 a.m. 
    • Commuter Permits (Q*, K, and South): Thursday, Aug. 3 at 7:30 a.m.

UNM PATS encourages you to mark these dates on your calendar and purchase your permit as soon as possible to ensure that you have a spot in the K and South Lots for the new academic year.
