The 2011 Relay For Life event will be held Friday, April 15 from 6 p.m. through 8 a.m. April 16 at the University of New Mexico's South Gym at Johnson Center. Put on by the American Cancer Society, the event focuses on celebrating the lives of people who have battled cancer, remembering lost loved ones, and fighting back against the disease by raising money for research.

Each year, more than 3.5 million people gather to take part in the event to raise awareness and funds for cancer. Participants are encouraged walk or run around the track all night to symbolize that cancer never sleeps. The Relay will also feature activities and motivational and informational speakers.
