The 2019 UNM collectible holiday ornament is now available at the UNM Bookstore.
This year the ornament depicts Dane Smith Hall, which opened in 1999. The building was named after English Professor Emeritus Dane Farnsworth Smith, who had a long and impactful teaching and research career at UNM.
Dane Smith Hall is one of The University of New Mexico’s all-classroom facilities and hosts the majority of undergraduate courses during their first two years. The 89,000 square foot building includes a 3-story atrium, Dane’s Deli, a computer lab, the Digital Printing Copy Center and numerous large lecture halls which can accommodate up to 150 students. In addition, there are many smaller classrooms, some of which are equipped with technology allowing remote students to take part in lectures during real time.
The 2019 UNM collectible holiday ornament portrays original design work from artist Jana Fothergill. She has more than 40 years of experience in illustration and design, both in Wisconsin where she earned her master’s in fine arts, and in New Mexico where she has lived since 1995.
Collectible ornaments are on sale at the UNM Bookstore for $18.89 – a price that nods to the year UNM was established. They are also available online. Proceeds benefit the UNM-Parent Association Scholarship Fund.
