The UNM Dean of Students Office (DOS) hosts the fifth annual “Alternative Spring Break” (ASB) Sunday-Friday, Mar. 8-13. The Alternative Spring Break gives UNM students the opportunity to travel to New Orleans, La. to assist Camp Restore with several community-based projects for Hurricane Katrina survivors.

Camp Restore is a nonprofit organization that partners with more than 50 local nonprofit organizations to pair volunteers with community and construction projects. The camp relies mostly on volunteers to serve the community.

Interested students must fill out an application and currently enrolled with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. A program fee of $540 includes airfare, lodging, meals, transportation and some entertainment. Payments are available. The application deadline, along with a down payment of $180, has been extended and is now due by Monday Jan. 26 at 5 p.m. to the DOS.
