The Fifth Annual Anderson School of Management Native American Career Fair will take place on Thursday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Jackson Student Center located west of the Anderson School of Management on the UNM Campus.
The career fair includes recruiters from Native American organizations and tribal entities, - which are sometimes absent from mainstream career fairs - giving them the opportunity to recruit from a large number of highly qualified individuals who will soon receive their college degrees. The fair will also feature Non-Native organizations looking to hire new employees. The career fair is open to all people regardless of race or ethnicity. Participants are encouraged to bring a resume and professional attire is recommended.
The Anderson Native American Career Fair began in April 2007 initially as an avenue for Native American businesses and organizations to recruit students from the Anderson School of Management. However, it was discovered that the career fair also attracted non-Native companies who were interested in recruiting Anderson students.
The University of New Mexico and the Anderson School of Management have a diverse population of students who are eager to begin their careers in the various fields of Management making the Native American Career Fair the perfect fit in meeting the needs of both recruiter and job seeker.
Employers scheduled to attend the fair include: Amerind Risk Management, Conoco-Phillips, DOI-Office of the Special Trustee for American Indians, DOJ-Drug Enforcement Administration, Internal Revenue Service, MCM Elegante, National Electrical Contractors Association – IBEW, Navajo Tribal Utility Authority, Progressive Insurance, Sacred Power Corporation, Sandia National Labs, and the Santa Claran Hotel and Casino.
