Organizers announced the 2020 International Association for College Admission Counseling (INTL ACAC) conference has been canceled.

The University of New Mexico was scheduled to host the conference in July.

Organizers notified UNM and its members saying in part, “This decision was made with great concern for the health and safety of our members, the uncertainty of the coming months as the Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues, and the demands that conference planning would place on our host, UNM, at a time when their campus is closed.”

Nicole Tami, UNM’s Global Education Office executive director, said the University agreed to host the annual event in 2021. Then, Florida International University will follow in 2022.

“All things considered this is the best outcome for our campus given the challenges we would have faced finalizing plans for the event amidst the Coronavirus restrictions,” Tami said. “Much work has already been done and we plan to build up on that work starting mid fall 2020.”

The International ACAC brings together primary and secondary school counselors, college admission and financial aid officers, enrollment managers  and organizations engaged in guiding students through the secondary to higher education transition process.
