Associated Students of the University of New Mexico’s Lobo Spirit hosted their third annual Neon Skate Down recently as a part of its Homecoming celebration.
More than 200 students gathered for four hours in the Student Union Building Ballrooms to skate, eat and spend time with friends in celebration of Homecoming week. With a Lobo ID, students were able to rent skates for free on a first come first serve basis.
Freshman Kendal Parham was enthusiastic about the event saying, “I love to roller skate so seeing Lobo Spirit put together something like Neon Skate Down was really amazing to see.”
Students were able to enjoy a wide variety of music while skating under blacklights. Snacks and a variety of drinks were provided to students, as well.
Marketing Director Amanda Perea says, “We love seeing student utilizing the free events we put on because it gives them an opportunity to interact with other Lobos and give them a break from the stress of school.” Lobo Spirit has a variety of other events planned for Homecoming week including karaoke, pep rallies, and Silent Lights.
