Earlier this week, UNM Live's Benson Hendrix sat down with Lonna Atkeson in the political science department discussing her upcoming award from Common Cause New Mexico.  The video talks about the award and the research that led her to get the award.

Atkeson's completed a lot of research in the area of election training, and how elections are perceived by New Mexicans - are they fair, do the poll workers get adequate training, how do voters feel they've been treated after they leave the polls, etc.  In any election there's concern about whether "voter fraud" has taken place during the voting process, and Atkeson's research goes a long way to address those concerns.

If you're a professor with really cool research, or you'd like to recommend someone to UNM Live, feel free to drop us a line.
