Author Ron Hamm will be at the UNM Bookstore on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. to sign copies of Ross Calvin: Interpreter of the American Southwest (Sunstone Press, 2016). This event is open to the public.

Many people love the American Southwest without truly understanding it. Ross Randall Calvin did and we are the richer for it. Calvin began his search as pilgrim health-seeker, believing he had left the “known world” behind when he fled the East for New Mexico.

There he found that he could use his observational skills and intellect to fashion a picture that helped him and his audience comprehend the unique factors that make New Mexico what it is: its history, people, culture, climate and so much more. Calvin’s story as a discoverer and interpreter unfolds in rich detail in this essential work by Ron Hamm.

Ron Hamm has written widely and exstensively on New Mexico as a journalist, then later as an author and biographer over the span of  five decades. Other works include The Bursums of New Mexico: Four Generations of Leadership and Service and New Mexico Territorial Era Caricatures.

The UNM Bookstore is located at 2301 Central Ave. NE at the intersection of Cornell and Central.  Please contact Marie Claire Day at 277-1388 or for more information.
