The University of New Mexico CNM host the 4th annual IT Mobile App contest awards ceremony on Friday, Jan. 27 at 11 a.m. in the Student Union Building (SUB) where winning teams will give a brief overview of their apps for audience members.

Last fall, student teams from UNM and CNM registered for the contest to compete for cash prizes of up to $6,000. During the course of the semester, the teams designed their individual apps and submitted those entries in early-January.

The contest was designed to inspire students to challenge their creativity and coding skills while producing apps that provide valuable services to the community. UNM and CNM faculty and staff provided support to these coding efforts through workshops, assignment of mentors to applicants, and making development environments available in student labs.

Participants also had the option of utilizing UNM’s and the City of Albuquerque’s Open Data repositories to make useful, mobile applications that also benefit the community.
