On Saturday, March 12, the Juvenile Justice Advisory Board (JJAB) and UNM-Los Alamos will kickoff the return of their popular Parenting University series of programs with a free workshop for parents and caregivers.

Barbara Coloroso, widely acclaimed author, consultant, and parenting expert will present Kids are Worth It! Parenting with Wit & Wisdom. In this workshop, Coloroso will share practical advice and discuss the keys to good parenting. Participants will learn how to create a positive home environment in which children are treated with respect and given opportunities to make decisions, take responsibility for their actions, and learn from their successes and mistakes.

Ms. Coloroso has appeared on Oprah and has been featured in the New York Times and many other news publications. She is the author of four international bestsellers.

“I look forward to coming and I think parents will have a good time watching one another and realizing we are all in the same boat together,” said Coloroso. “Parents can come and relax and laugh a bit and look more closely at what they can do to raise responsible, resourceful, and compassionate human beings.”

Gabe Baca, UNM-LA Community Education Program Manager said, “We are thrilled to have someone with Barbara’s experience, knowledge, and unique sense of humor visit our campus.
