The University of New Mexico Honors College, in partnership with the Albuquerque Film Office, presents Breaking Bad ABQ & A: An Evening with Vince Gilligan on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.
Join writer and director Vince Gilligan (“Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul”) and Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller for a lively evening facilitated by UNM Associate Professor and Carruthers Chair Ryan Swanson, considering how our city of Albuquerque has been shaped by its most famous television depictions. This will be an evening of sincere questions, quirky stories and poignant clips.
This event kicks off a year of programming for the UNM Honors College Carruthers Lecture Series: My New Mexico, and is free and open to the public.
The Carruthers Lecture Series (CLS) was made possible by the Garrey Carruthers Chair in Honors Endowment, established in 1990, to recognize the importance of higher education by giving generous support to improve the process at colleges and universities around the country. The CLS is meant to serve the Honors College, The University of New Mexico, and the city of Albuquerque. Each year the CLS hopes to spark a conversation that lasts far beyond one evening – creating community, strengthening relationships between the Honors College and other UNM departments, and serving as a recruiting tool for the University.
Carruthers Chair Ryan Swanson is serving a three-year term, under which he has dedicated himself to the teaching, research, leadership, and service mission of the Honors College and The University of New Mexico.
This year’s theme, My New Mexico, was selected to begin a multifaceted exploration of ideas and questions about New Mexico that can be examined together as a community in the upcoming year of Carruthers programming. For more information visit: UNM Honors College.
