The University of New Mexico Career Services will host its annual Career Expo— its largest event of the year—with a record number of employers ready to hire Lobos for jobs and internships.
The Career Expo is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the SUB. This event will be held in-person for the first time since 2020 and 125 employers will be available for students to talk and interview with. Students should come to the Expo dressed to impress with resumes in hand. Many employers will be ready to hire on the spot. Students can preview the employers set to be at the event and can RSVP to hold a spot.
“We haven’t held this event in person since 2020,” Jenna Crabb, director of UNM Career Services, said. “This is the largest number of employers since 2008 when we had 122. We currently are full and have a waiting list of employers who want to participate.”
Career Services will hold two “Resume Days” prior to the event on Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 7 and 8 for those who want to finetune or update their resume. Students can drop in at the Career Services office in UAEC Building 85, Room 220, with their resume between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to get professional staff help.
Career Services will also hold two workshops to help students prepare, including, “Resume Writing for Expo Success,” on Tuesday, Feb. 7 from 2 to 3 p.m. and “Tips for Career Expo Success” on Wednesday, Feb. 8 from 2 to 3 p.m. Both will be in UAEC Building 85, Room 220.
“To have this many employers on our campus – all connecting to UNM and hiring our Lobos is amazing and very community and economic driven!” Crabb said. “It aligns perfectly with the UNM 2040 goals: Advance NM, Student Experience and Educational Innovation, Inclusive Excellence, and Sustainability.”
