The University of New Mexico’s Center on Alcohol, Substance Use & Addictions (CASAA) hosts a research day showcasing some of the work students and investigators have completed the last few years. The virtual event will be held Thursday, July 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

CASAA Research Day will include three guest speakers covering a range of topics related to addictions:

  • Margo Hurlocker | Opioid use and harm reduction
  • Katie Witkiewitz | Chronic pain and opioid use
  • Frank Schwebel | Treatment goals and alcohol

In addition, members of CASAA will present posters highlighting their work conducted in the last few years. Those in attendance will also have the opportunity to take part in breakout sessions aimed to tackle important questions related to addictions and inform CASAA research during the coming year.

"We are incredibly excited to share the important work CASAA has done recently to improve the lives of people suffering from substance use disorders and to hear from the community their recommendations for how to continue to move the field forward," said Frank Schwebel, UNM postdoctoral fellow.

Individuals must register to present at the event by July 1 and attend the event by July 6.
