University of New Mexico Vice President for Student Affairs Eliseo “Cheo” Torres announces the appointment of Rosa Isela Cervantes as director of El Centro de la Raza. Cervantes first came to El Centro de la Raza as a high school senior in 1991 and credits a great deal of her academic success to her participation in the program.
She has been with UNM since 1997 as a staff member, and most recently served as program operations director for the UNM College Enrichment and Outreach Programs, where she was responsible for Outreach Initiatives. Prior, Cervantes earned a bachelor's in sociology and Spanish and a master's in Family Students from the UNM College of Education.
"Torres said, "We would like to congratulate Rosa on her new role which begins on January 1, 2014, and we look forward to the continued success from El Centro de la Raza."
