Judith Chazin-Bennahum discusses and signs copies of her book "Rene Blum and the Ballets Russes: In Search of a Lost Life" (Oxford University Press) Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 3 p.m. in the UNM Bookstore.

The biography uncovers the events in the life of the writer and producer who resurrected the Ballets Russes and is based on previously undiscovered letters and documents. The book tells the story of Blum's life and illustrates her central role in the development of dance in the United States.

Bennahum has danced and choreographed for the Metropolitan Opera Ballet, the Santa Fe Opera and the Opera Academy in Rome. She is Distinguished Professor Emerita at UNM where she served as Associate Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance. Though retired, she has taken on the co-presidency of the UNM Friends of Dance where a scholarship is awarded at UNM each year in her name.

The event is free and open to the public. The UNM Bookstore is located at 2301 Central Ave. NE at the intersection of Cornell and Central.
