Ruben Cobos, 1911-2010, is honored in the National Hispanic Cultural Center's Resolana series, with "El Maestro de la Palabra," on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. in the NHCC Salón Ortega.
Cobos was an inductee of the New Mexico Folklore Hall of Fame. His career included teaching at the University of New Mexico, as well as Stanford and New Mexico Highlands University.
The program features Ana Pacheco, former editor of La Herencia magazine, presenting a biographical sketch of Cobos' life; UNM Professor of Spanish Tony Cárdenas presents, "El Maestro en the Classroom," UNM Language Learning Center Director Neddy Vigil presents, "Ruben's Contributions to New Mexico Spanish;" and author Nasario García presents, "Collecting Folklore Among ‘Los Viejitos.'"
Resolana is a series led by community experts on important social and cultural topics. They are more than just lectures; they're interactive and spirited dialogues covering issues that are important to all.
