Tamarind Institute, a division of the University of New Mexico's College of Fine Arts, recently announced the appointment of Meghan Ferguson as new gallery director.

Ferguson is no stranger to Tamarind. As assistant director at Eight Modern gallery in Santa Fe, she collaborated with the institute on multiple occasions, introducing new artists for Tamarind to invite, sharing news about potential artists and selling Tamarind lithographs to collectors.

"From the day I learned about Tamarind," said Ferguson, it has been my aspiration to become part of the team. I admire Tamarind's contributions to contemporary art, and its mission to continue giving artists the opportunity to explore lithography."

Prior to Eight Modern, Ferguson worked for Charlotte Jackson Fine Art. It was there that she gained experience with gallery administration and art fair production, including the international art fair, Art Santa Fe. Ferguson received her B.A in Art History from the College of Santa Fe in 2007, with a focus on issues in contemporary art, a passion she continues to explore today.

Tamarind invites the public to visit the gallery and meet Ferguson, who began as gallery director April 30.
