After an extensive nationwide search, UNM Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Chaouki Abdallah on behalf of President Bob Frank announced there will be three finalists for the UNM Gallup Branch Director position.

The three finalists will each speak at open forums where faculty, staff, students and Gallup community members will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback. Each forum will be held on the Gallup Campus.

Gaither Loewenstein

Faculty Open Forum – April 22, 9:30-10:30 a.m. (Student Services Technology Center Room 182)
Staff Open Forum – April 22, 1:30-2:30 p.m. (Calvin Hall Auditorium Room 248)
Loewenstein earned his Ph.D. in Urban Affairs from the University of Delaware. He currently serves as the vice president of Academic Affairs at Long Beach City College. Loewenstein previously served as president of Modesto Junior College.

John Garmon
Faculty Forum – April 25, 9:30-10:30 a.m. (Student Services Technology Center Room 182)
Staff Forum – April 25, 1:30-2:30 p.m. (Calvin Hall Auditorium Room 248
Garmon has been a teacher and administrator at colleges and universities in the U.S. for more than 30 years. He is a past president of Berkeley City College in California and served as Vice President of Academic Affairs at New Mexico State University in Carlsbad. He earned his Ph.D. at Ball State University in Indiana. He also served as Director of Community Services at New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs.

Christopher Dyer

Staff Forum – April 29, 1:30-2:30 p.m. (Calvin Hall Auditorium Room 248)
Dyer earned his Ph.D. in Anthropology from Arizona State University. He has over 10 years of experience as an academic administrator and dean, having also served at Our Lady of the Lake University, Mount Olive College, and School for Field Studies. He currently serves as Dean of Academic Affairs/ Chief Academic Officer and Professor of Anthropology at Missouri State University-West Plains.
