The Senate went for more than six hours on Sunday night and got some work done. Senators have approved SB 53, which is the General Obligation Bond bill, which has $20.5 million for Farris Engineering and $12 million for the Domenici Health Education Building, as well as another $6.5 million for projects at the branch campuses. It now goes to the House.
Senate Finance has completed its version of the state budget. There will be more details as the bill comes out of committee. Senate Education has sent all of the lottery bills in its queue on their way without recommendation. Education wants Finance to craft the substitute lottery bill, though there is already a lottery bill (SB 347) sitting in Finance which may trump all.
On Monday, Public Education Department Secretary-designate Hanna Skandera’s confirmation hearing is scheduled in Senate Rules.
Both the House and Senate are due back on the floor at 11 a.m. on Monday.
