To what extent has UNM been successful in understanding its staff and their role in fulfilling the University’s mission and vision? The UNM Staff Engagement Survey will be the first step in finding out.

“Our staff is an integral part of our success,” said UNM President Robert Frank. “In order to achieve our vision, we need to ensure that their voices are heard and that their input is incorporated into our operations.”

The confidential online survey, which launches on Monday, Nov. 17 and runs through Friday, Dec. 5, provides staff an opportunity to express their opinions about the quality of their area within the University and the campus work climate. All benefits eligible UNM staff will receive an email invitation to participate. The survey should take between 10 and 15 minutes to complete.

Once the results have been reported and analyzed, action plans will be developed to address the greatest impact areas. Identifying opportunities for workplace improvements will contribute further to making UNM a great place to work and support the UNM2020 goal of becoming a “Destination University.” This survey will also provide a baseline against which progress can be evaluated.

As one of the largest employers in New Mexico, the University is conducting the UNM Staff Engagement Survey in order to get critical feedback on how UNM can help individuals and the institution reach their potential.

“Engagement is a word incorporated into much of our UNM2020 strategic plan,” Frank said. “The results of this survey will help further our commitment to improve our work environment and position UNM as one of the best places to be employed.”
