The UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center (SRMC) will host a groundbreaking ceremony for its new facility on Wednesday, Oct. 27, from 3-5 p.m. The ceremony will take place at SRMC's building site in the Rio Rancho City Center adjacent to the Rio Rancho City Hall and UNM West.

The UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center will be a new 200,000 square foot, 68 bed public, not-for-profit, state-of-the-art community teaching hospital with high surgical services. There will be a 40,000 square foot medical office building. It is being designed to eventually accommodate a 300 bed facility through the addition of bed towers.

The facility will consist of 60 medical/surgical and eight behavioral health beds, six operating rooms, and a 13 bay ER/Trauma center (Level III/IV). The medical office building will provide space for clinical teaching, administration and patient support services. Patient support services will include infusion therapy, physical therapy, and medical office space for new physicians.
