Jared Bush offers a weeklong screenwriting workshop at the University of New Mexico's annual Taos Summer Writers' Conference, "Writing for Your Audience: A Practical Guide to Screenwriting." The class is open to all levels, from beginning to experienced screenwriters.
Bush is a full-time television and film screenwriter, writer/producer of CW's "All of Us" and contributing writer of the film "Hitch" starring Will Smith, with whom he is a frequent collaborator. Educated at Harvard University, Jared moved to Hollywood and became a script reader for Academy Award winning director Robert Zemeckis. He started his television career as a staff writer on the CBS series "Baby Bob" starring Adam Arkin and Elliott Gould. He developed original series for Revolution Studios, FOX and NBC. While working as a writer/producer for "All of Us," Bush expanded into film, setting up projects at New Line Cinema, Columbia/Tristar and Disney. He is developing an original animated series for the Disney Channel and screenplays for 20th Century Fox and Sony Pictures.
Producers, financiers and filmmakers are the people who decide what screenplays are bought and made, so understanding who these people are and what they are looking for is critical to the ultimate success of any screenplay. "Writing for Your Audience: A Practical Guide to Screenwriting" will examine who the players are in the filmmaking process and explain screenwriting techniques to improve a screenplay's chances of becoming a film. It will demystify the development process so writers can use it to improve screenplays on the road to a green light.
The Taos Summer Writers' Conference is at the Sagebrush Inn in Taos, Sunday, July 10-Sunday, July 17. Named one of the top 10 writers' conferences in the country by USA Today, the conference attracts more than 200 participants of all backgrounds from all over the United States and the world.
