In recognition of superior energy performance, the Health Sciences and Services Building (HSSB), which houses a combination of academics, finance and administrative functions, has earned the EPA's Energy Star recognition based on its lowered energy use of more than 27 percent over the last two years. It's the first UNM building to receive this recognition.

Other factors in the recognition included an energy conservation effort by all building occupants led by James Ochoa, HSC energy conservation educator.
