The UNM Health Sciences Library and Informatics Center (HSLIC) is hosting a new exhibit titled, "Opening Doors: Contemporary African American Academic Surgeons."

The exhibit celebrates the contributions of African American academic surgeons to medicine and medical education, telling the stories of four pioneering African American surgeons and educators who exemplify excellence in their fields and believe in continuing the journey of excellence through the education and mentoring of younger physicians and surgeons.

The exhibit will be on display in the Domenici Center for Health Sciences Education main lobby, Feb. 2 - March 29, 2011. Domenici Center, located at the corner of Stanford NE and Marble NE, is open Monday-Friday, 6 a.m.-6 p.m. An opening reception is slated Friday, February 25, 4:30-6 p.m. in Domenici Center's main lobby.
