As part of UNM IT’s commitment to continuously review and improve the software applications made available to campus, IT will transition support for the product Instant Messaging from GroupWise/Novell Instant Messenger (also known as GWIM) to Microsoft Skype for Business.

On Feb. 29, 2016, GWIM will be unavailable to all main campus users (see below for exceptions). UNM IT stopped adding main campus users to the GWIM system on Dec. 22, 2015.

If you are a UNM HSC user, you will have to do nothing. GWIM will continue to be available to UNM HSC users. If you have an ongoing business requirement to instant message with an HSC staff member using GWIM, contact that staff member and ask them to submit a ticket to the UNM Hospital Help Desk to keep your GWIM access enabled after Feb. 29. If approved, ongoing support for your GWIM account will be provided by the UNM Hospital Help Desk.
