Jamison Green to Speak at UNM

The UNM Queer Straight Alliance hosts Jamison Green, author of Becoming a Visible Man, Friday, Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the UNM Student Union Building ballroom C. Jamison presents, "Identity – category or integration." The event is free and open to the public.
Becoming a Visible Man received the 2004 Sylvia Rivera Award for Best Book in Transgender Studies from the Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies.
For more than 15 years, Green has been a director or advisory board member for many non-profit organizations working to improve health, safety, and civil rights for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and intersex people. In addition to his training, policy consulting, writing, and public speaking, Green is also a Ph.D. candidate in Law at Manchester Metropolitan University in England. In May, 2009, he became the first transgendered person to receive a Distinguished Service Award from the Association of Gay and Lesbian Psychiatrists for his contributions to LGBT mental health.
