The UNM Anderson School of Management established the JB White Memorial Scholarship to remember the 2020 Santa Fe High School graduate and aspiring business student. White was scheduled to study business at Anderson and play basketball for UNM that fall but tragically died as a result of gun violence before the fall semester started. Donations are being requested for the fund to sustain this impactful resource to students and continue to commemorate White.

The fund supports Santa Fe High School students interested in studying business at UNM. However, students from other Northern New Mexico high schools will be considered if a Santa Fe High School student is not eligible. The scholarship recipient should also be interested in diversity issues. This is a business academic scholarship; basketball is not a criterion for eligibility.

This scholarship was created with the UNM basketball program and the Anderson School to honor White's memory, his family, and the community of Santa Fe. Well-known for his on-court prowess and engaging and warm personality, White left a lasting impact on everyone he met, and this scholarship will do the same.

"Losing JB has been heartbreaking and devastating to me and my family," said Jude Voss, JB's grandmother. "JB's plan was to make it professionally and come back to New Mexico and "give back." It was one of three goals I found written in his notebook shortly after he passed —"Be Kind & Give Back." This scholarship provides one way for him to do so. JB's legacy will live on forever now, and he will continue to touch lives. I am forever grateful."
