Brian Luna Lucero, the Center for Regional Studies Sophie D. Aberle Fellow at the Center for Southwest Research talks about the 60 year effort for New Mexico to be recognized as a state. Lucero speaks about the political and cultural resistance to admitting New Mexico to the union, and the many failed attempts to have the territory recognized as a state. Lucero is a Ph.D. candidate in History. His research is part of a larger effort to build a digital portal for the CSWR's centennial project.
