On Oct. 24, students, faculty, and staff can experience the cuisine Albuquerque offers at the seventh annual “La Po Goes Local dining event.”
From 5 to 8 p.m., visitors can immerse themselves in New Mexican music, engage with lively student groups, and savor a locally crafted menu by culinary experts. The menu includes ingredients proudly sourced from the Albuquerque community, including Charles Johnson Co, Mesilla Valley Produce, Smyer Co, Bueno, and Verde. Highlighted items include a gourmet posole bar, chile rellenos, tamales, and more! Freshly roasted green chile will be provided by Bueno Foods.
For dessert, guests can dive into savory New Mexico-influenced favorites, from sopapillas served with honey and powdered sugar to a new green chile marmalade. Beverages such as aguas frescas, champurrado, and healthy blends from Verde Juice will be offered to complement the menu. This will be a true celebration of local culture, cuisine, and New Mexico pride!
Performances include Sage Gonzales, local student band The Boys Room, and DJ Pocket Elephant. Student organizations in attendance will be El Centro de La Raza and ASUNM.
Individuals interested in the event can participate as meal card holders or dinner door entry, with the dinner entry rate of $11.15 + tax.
All New Mexicans are welcome to partake in festivities regardless of meal card accessibility.
This event is one of many thrown by La Posada to engage with the students and the Albuquerque community to create an engaging atmosphere at the University of New Mexico. Don’t miss an exciting opportunity to taste savory and sweet concoctions that highlight the New Mexican culture we celebrate on campus.
