The University of New Mexico's Latin American and Iberian Institute is hosting the lecture, "Leader of a Colombian Peace Community Speaks on the Experience of Community in Times of War: Jesús Emilio Tuberquia and the Story of a Courageous Experiment in Non-Violent Resistance," Thursday, March 31 from 12 - 1:30 p.m. at LAII located at 801 Yale Boulevard.

Tuberquia, along with others, formed the San Jose de Apartado Peace Community in northwest Colombia, which has withstood death threats, disappearances and food blockades to maintain a non-violent community in resistance to the violence that surrounds them.
