The Latin American and Iberian Institute welcomes its new visiting scholar, Ramón Arzápalo, from the Instituto de Investigaciones Antropológicas and the Department of Linguistics at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
While at UNM, Arzápalo will conduct research on Mayan codices and script, which is his area of specialization. Arzápalo visited UNM in 2009 and was a presenter for the LAII conference on "Animal Symbolism in the Mesoamerican Codex Tradition."
Arzápalo will be in residence at UNM through Aug. 31, 2013. He will present his research to the UNM community during the spring semester; meanwhile he is available to meet with faculty and students who have similar research interests.
