Lobo Living Room and Alumni Relations host a presentation on drones and the future of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) on Thursday, April 28 at the UNM Centennial Engineering Center from 6 to 8 p.m. The presentation will be led by two UNM experts, Luke Davis and Luis Valbeuna Reyes.

Davis, who graduated from UNM in 2001, is currently the managing partner of Flytcam Studios, one of New Mexico’s first drone videography-focused studios. Valbuena Reyes is a current graduate student at UNM who serves as a Research Assistant in Electrical Computer Engineering.

The two experts will provide a discussion about how drones have proven to be valuable assets to society, along with a discussion about the negative perceptions.

UAS are expected to increase in popularity in the coming years, with one estimate suggesting there could be as many as 30,000 drones hovering in American airspace by 2020.

There will be a special demonstration following the presentation.

The event is free, but an RSVP is requested by April 27. For more information, contact Alumni Relations at (505) 277-5808 or at 800-ALUM-UNM. To RSVP, visit Lobo Living Room.
