Ann Massmann, associate professor of librarianship in the Center for Southwest Research and Special Collections, University of New Mexico College of University Libraries and Learning Sciences, died Feb. 24 after a long illness.

She joined the Center for Southwest Research in 1995 eventually becoming head of public services for the Anderson Reading Room. She was active in the Society of American Archivists and was a member of the Academy of Certified Archivists. She was actively involved with outreach to the Native American archival community by membership on the Society of American Archivists Native Americans Roundtable.

She also took an active part in establishing the historic Route 66 collections and served as a member of the National Park Service Route 66 Archives and Research Collaborative. She served as the preservation officer for University Libraries and was deeply involved in the recovery process after the Zimmerman Library fire in 2006.

Massmann loved working for the CSWR and was dedicated to serving patrons and researchers. Her passing is a great loss to her colleagues. A memorial service will be held in April. For information about the service, contact Claire-Lise Benaud at clbenaud@unm.edu.
